What changed
The Token Plan upgrades three things: the billing unit, the plan structure, and what happens when you hit your limit.
For the new plan’s tier pricing, Credit allowances, booster packs, and billing rules, see the Step Plan overview.
For existing Coding Plan subscribers
If you are on the earlier Coding Plan, your allowance, benefits, and expiration date for the current cycle remain unchanged, and you can keep using the plan until the cycle ends. Whether you need to upgrade depends on your auto-renewal setting:- Auto-renewal enabled: your Coding Plan will keep renewing automatically for the next cycle, and you can continue using it without upgrading. You can also choose to upgrade to the Token Plan at any time.
- Auto-renewal disabled: the Coding Plan does not support manual renewal. To continue using Step Plan after your current cycle expires, upgrade to the new Token Plan.
Upgrading to the Token Plan
Coding Plan subscribers can upgrade to the new Token Plan from the console. The upgrade works as follows:- Your expiration date stays the same: whatever date your plan expired on before, it still expires on after the upgrade.
- Full allowance issued: the new plan’s full monthly Credit allowance is issued immediately on upgrade, not prorated by remaining days. For example, 3.5 months left on the old plan converts to 4 months of the new plan.
- One-way: once confirmed, the upgrade cannot be reverted to the old plan.
- No tier change during upgrade: the upgrade switches you from the old plan to the same tier of the new plan. To move to a higher tier, complete the upgrade first and then change tiers (see below).
Changing to a higher tier
After upgrading, you can move your Token Plan to a higher tier within the cycle by paying the prorated difference:- Amount due = original tier price × (1 − time used / total cycle). The difference is calculated only on the unused portion of the cycle and does not involve converting your remaining Credit balance.
- The full month’s Credits for the new tier are issued immediately after the tier change.
- Constraints: the new tier’s price must be no lower than the original tier’s price, and the new tier’s cycle must be no shorter than your remaining subscription time.
